We are now an official Java User Group (JUG)

This will not affect the way that we are run however we can now benefit from being hooked into the international Java User Group scene and can benefit from Java developers moving to the UK looking for a User Group to participate in. If anyone is planning to relocate overseas let me know and I can provide an introduction to the User Group in that country. To read further about Sun’s JUG scheme you can visit this site:

I enquired as to how large the communities grow and was sent these statistics:

Cologne JUG Germany — has about 900 members

javaBin Norway runs JavaZone conference: 2000+ members

Belgian JUG runs developer conference about 2000 members

Netherlands JUG runs Masters of Java Coding Competition, J-Fall Developer Conference, J-Spring Developer Conf. 3000 members

Java Community Process of Korea has over 8000 members in Seoul

But the big one – DFJUG Brasilia Brazil has over 30,000 JUG members!!!

What is the LJC

The London Java Community (LJC) is a group of Java Enthusiasts who are interested in benefiting from shared knowledge in the industry. Through our forum and regular meetings you can keep in touch with the latest industry developments, learn new Java (& other JVM) technologies, meet other developers, discuss technical/non technical issues and network further throughout the Java Community.
