Congratulations to Johan Fourie who won December’s competition and picked up his free copy of JDBC 4.0 and Oracle JDeveloper for J2EE Development from Packt Publishing
Packt Publishing is a unique publishing company specializing in highly focused books on specific technologies and solutions.
Each month we run a promotion with them in which ONE LJC member will be selected at random to receive a free book. This month as it is a new year they have generously opted to give away books to THREE members!
Each month we will send you a list of 10 books. To take part in the promotion all you have to do is send an email to me at email@example.com with your name, your book choice and the address you would like your book to be sent. Please mark ‘Packt Publishing’ as the subject title.

Just a quick note to say happy new year to one and all, I hope this year brings you all that you wish for. We are now in our third year of operation and 2010 promises to be the best year yet with lots of interesting presentations, conferences and social meetups coming your way.
We had over 600 new signups in 2009 which has taken us to almost 850! I am eager for the LJC to keep growing at this rate and would like to increase our membership to 1500 by the end of 2010.
If you are not already a member the LJC is an official Java User Group. We meet regularly for presentations on the latest technologies and movements within the Java world. We also hold regular competitions and giveaways for our members. Membership is completely free, you can sign up here: http://www.meetup.com/Londonjavacommunity/
